Frequently Asked Questions
-
I've never worn press ons before, where do I start?HOF requires you to start with a sizing kit of the shape and length you want to wear. If you are unsure of what shape and length you want, there is a shape finger kit available to order. Once you know your sizes for your desired shape and length, you can order for your first set!
-
Are HOF press ons the same as ones I can find in a drugstore? No! HOF press ons are luxury handmade nails. These are hand painted and created just for you. Whereas drugstore press ons are mass-produced and typically made out of a more flimsy plastic and are really only meant to wear once. You are getting highly quality, salon grade nails when you order from HOF.
-
Will my press ons look natural?Yes! With proper sizing and the ability to file to fit if needed, your press ons will look natural and seamless.
-
Will press ons hurt my natural nails? As long as you don’t rip them off, your natural nails will stay nice and healthy underneath your press ons! They can actually help to grow out your natural nails if taken care of properly.
-
Do you offer premade sets? The only premade sets that are available are the ready wear sizing kits. These are full size runs with two of each size that are painted a solid color and are ready to be applied.
-
What's included in my order?Every press on order will receive an application kit. This includes nail glue, alcohol wipes, a cuticle pusher, a small file, and additional small tools for cleaning debris.
-
How do I apply my set of press ons?Instructions will be on the back of your press on card but just in case you need them - Start with clean nails that have no product on them. Push back your cuticles with cuticle stick. Buff the shine from your natural nails with the buffing block. Make sure to buff the entire nail including up around your cuticle. Use your file or buffer to etch the inside of the press on nail. Use your alcohol wipe to clean all dust and debris from your natural nail and the inside of the press on nails. Apply nail glue to your nail bed and spread around the nail evenly. Hold the nail at a 45 degree angle at the cuticle and press down firmly, pushing the nail glue away from the cuticle. Hold the nail firmly down and let the nail set before releasing. Apply cuticle oil and enjoy!
-
What's the difference between glue and adhesive tabs?Glue tabs are for a more temporary wear while nail glue will be for longer wear.
-
How do I remove my press ons?To remove your press ons without damaging your natural nails or press ons, I highly recommend purchasing Press Off. This product helps loosen the nail glue without ruining the press ons. Without Press Off - Carefully use your cuticle stick to slightly create a gap around the sides and cuticle of the nail from the press on. Use a hot/warm bowl of water with olive oil and dish soap mixed in to soak your nails in. This will help to start warming the glue and will help to loosen things. Wait about 5-10 minutes and then use your cuticle stick to carefully lift more of the press on. Do not force the press ons off your natural nail as this will cause damage. Keep soaking and lifting until the press ons come off the nail without force. This process will take awhile if you want to save your press on nails for future wear. With Press Off remover - Effortlessly remove your press-on nails with our gentle and easy-to-use PRESS OFF removal serum. Gently create a gap: Slide a wooden cuticle stick gently under any loose edges around the cuticle or sides of the Press On to create a small gap for the removal serum to work. Apply Serum and Wait: Generously apply the removal serum under the sides of the nails and let it sit for 2-4 minutes. Gently Remove: Keep close to your natural nail and gently push the wooden cuticle stick underneath the sides of the press on nail until the nail pops off easily with light pressure. Don’t use force when removing. Repeat steps one and two as needed until all nails come off easily. Aftercare: Wash hands and press on nails with soap and water within five minutes of removing. Cleaning the press on nails is essential to maintain their appearance for re-use (if desired).
-
How long will my press ons last?If proper prep and application are done, your press ons should last 2-3 weeks.
